Regarding the perception of Russian food in the UK. We bought pelmeni (Russian dumplings) from a Russian food store called "Teremok". The pelmeni themselves are made in Germany, and their packaging is just a collection of stereotypes about Russia. Starting from the fact that they are marketed as "perfect with vodka," and ending with images of various types of caviar and a golden goblet. The price of these pelmeni is 7 pounds (635 rubles at the current exchange rate). They taste like regular, normal pelmeni 🙂
