Moving into a new home is always a bit like a lottery. Even if you carefully review many options and choose the best one, unexpected difficulties can always arise – and that's exactly what happened in our case.

The apartment is located in a very convenient area: close to the metro and a central street with many shops and entertainment options. The apartment has a good size, and the spacious terrace could be used to create a relaxation area. But it was here that we encountered an unexpected surprise: the terrace was so dirty that it seemed like it had never been cleaned. As soon as our child stepped onto it, they slipped and got a huge green stain on their pants. In addition to this, some of the gas burners didn't work, the tap in the bathroom didn't work, there were leaks under the kitchen sink and in the shower, and the washing machine was in a terrible condition – the layer of dirt and mold inside broke all possible records.

Fortunately, after dozens of emails to the agency and a couple of weeks of waiting, all the problems were resolved. We even had to buy a pressure washer to clean the terrace. But what won't you do to create a comfortable life in a new place?

A tip for the future: check the rental property more thoroughly, turn on all the taps, and look in hidden places for mold and potential problems.
