I'd like to share a small story about everyday life. As you may know, in most parts of England, there's a system of separate waste collection: recyclable waste goes in one bin, food waste in another, and there's a general bin for unsorted waste. If you live in a house, you probably have three individual bins. Each bin is collected every two weeks – a garbage truck arrives, and specially trained people walk along the street, emptying the bins that have been placed out in advance.
It seems perfect, but there's a small problem: if your bin fills up before the collection day, you're stuck with nowhere to put your trash until the next pickup. As a solution to this problem, some clever people sneak their trash into other people's bins (which is officially prohibited), but it seems we've encountered a particularly clever individual.
The evening before the garbage collection day, I put our bin out near the house as usual. The next day, when I left the house, I was surprised to find that instead of our bin, there was a different bin, full of branches, and with a lid that wouldn't close properly (bins like that are usually not collected because of strict rules). It turns out that someone had taken our bin (with the trash 😄) somewhere overnight and replaced it with their own, which was probably also overflowing. They really passed the buck, so to speak.
In the end, I had to compact the other person's trash so that the bin would be taken away. Nevertheless, we now have a new, foreign bin. You can encounter unbelievable human audacity even here. I'm now considering installing a camera to monitor the area in front of the house.
What kind of audacity do you encounter in your everyday life?
