Has anyone heard of or explored the FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) approach? It's a movement of people committed to a program of extreme saving and investing, aimed at allowing them to retire much earlier than traditional budgets and retirement plans allow. The core idea is to accumulate capital equal to 25 times the family's annual expenses and then spend it at a rate of 2-4% per year, which would allow them to live without working (of course, the money must be invested to ensure annual growth).
