Finally, we managed to visit the very Tower – the fortress located on the banks of the Thames, and a historical center of London. It is one of the oldest structures in England (founded in 1066) and one of the main symbols of the United Kingdom.
Throughout its history, the Tower of London has served as a fortress, a palace, a repository for royal jewels, an arsenal, a mint, a prison, an observatory, a zoo, and, finally, a place that attracts tourists.
Surprisingly, this place turned out to be spacious and full of history – we felt like we had stepped into another, ancient city. We didn't have enough time to see everything; for example, there was a huge queue of hundreds of people at the jewel house. But we will definitely return here again, thanks to our membership in Historic Royal Palaces. 😊
